ISLAMABAD (APP) - Deputy Attorney General Muhammad Abid Raja, appearing before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) along with Commandant Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Muhammad Hussain Shahbaz and Major Tahir Mahmood of Military Intelligence (MI), on Tuesday denied the intelligence agencys role in abduction of Dr Mohammad Waheed. The single bench comprising Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan resumed hearing of the petition filed by Naveed Mukhtar, seeking recovery of his brother Dr Mohammad Waheed. The Deputy Attorney General told the bench that the missing person was not in the custody of intelligence agency including ISI and MI. He contended that the petition was not maintainable and added that the victims should file their application in the Lahore High Court (LHC) as the office concerned of the agency was located in Rawalpindi and it did not come under the jurisdiction of Islamabad High Court. The agencies denied their role in abducting this person, he added. Umer Hayat Sindhu, counsel for the petitioners, alleged that the missing person had been detained by agencies. After hearing the arguments Justice Riaz directed the Director General ISI and Deputy Director MI to submit counter affidavits that they did not detain Dr Waheed within two weeks and adjourned the hearing.
