OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE A minor girl and her brother were buried alive while their parents wounded seriously when the roof their dilapidated house caved in with a bang here in Gujjarpura area on Tuesday, police and rescue workers said. Rescue workers said that all the four members of the family were present in the house situated in (B-II) China Scheme when suddenly the roof of their house collapsed on them. Local residents immediately contacted the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue-1122) and informed them about the incident. The rescue workers rushed to the spot and launched the operation to pull out the victims from the debris. The rescue workers managed to pull out all the four family members, later identified as Muhammad Babu Khan, his wife Nasrin Bibi, four-year-old Umm-e-Fatima and Ali Haider, 3, with severe injuries. They injured were shifted top a local hospital, where Umm-e-Fatima and her younger brother Ali Haider succumbed to injuries. Local residents told the police that Muhammad Babu Khan, the poor labourer, was residing in the house along with his wife and children for the last several years. The wooden-made roof of the house was in dilapidated condition that collapsed as heavy monsoon rains are lashing across the Punjab province these days. It is worth mention here that over a dozen people, mostly women and children, have lost their lives while scores others wounded during monsoon rains here in the City during the last couple of weeks.
