KARACHI - At least 11 people were gunned down in various violent incidents here on Friday.

Two young friends, including Shahzad, 22, and Ali, 20, were killed and five others, including Saleem Qadri, Khurram, Yousuf, Bilal Shamshad and Saqib were wounded when some unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire at the Punjabi Club in Kharadar area. Police officials said the motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.

A young man Jafar, 37, was found dead in Kaghazi market within the jurisdictions of Kharadar police station. Police officials said he used to work at a restaurant and was the resident of Kharadar area. Police officials said some unidentified armed culprits shot him dead after kidnapping.

In another incident of target killing, took place in the surrounding of Lyari, a vegetable-vendor, Kamran, 32, was killed and his father Munnu Pehlwan was wounded when at least two armed men riding a motorcycle sprayed bullets at the pushcart in Ranchore Lane area. There were reports that the victim was the worker of Pakistan Sunni Tehreek.

A youth was found dead from the bushes in Khuldabad area of Shah Latif police station. The victim has yet to be identified. Police officials said the victim was hanged to death while his body was moved to Edhi morgue for identification.

The cousin of slain MPA Abdullah Murad was gunned down in Malir’s Al-Falah area. He was identified as Qadir Buksh, 32. SHO Enayatullah Narejo said the victim was posted in the Excise Police as a spy. The incident took place when he was on way to drop his children to the nearby school when two armed men riding a motorcycle shot him dead over unexplained reasons. Further investigation was underway.

Amir Tahir, 25, was shot dead outside his home in Orangi’s Mominabad area. Police officials said the victim was a car mechanic. Two armed motorcyclists shot him dead.

A jawan of Rangers was killed under mysterious circumstances. Police officials said the victim was identified as Naveed Shahzad, 25. He was posted at the Rangers Headquarter 93 Wing in Baldia Town where he died accidently when he was cleaning his gun.

Rustam Shahzad, 35, was gunned down by armed men on MA Jinnah Road. The body was taken to Civil Hospital for autopsy. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.

Nazeer Leghari who used to run his shoes shop in Baldia Town was shot dead near his home in Saeedabad area by armed men. Police officials suspected that the extortionists might have been behind his killing.

Meanwhile, police opened indiscriminate fire at a suspected militant in the jurisdictions of Manghopir police station. Police said the man carrying explosive in the car drove to hit some unknown object when police on routine patrol tried to intercept the car. Police called the experts of bomb disposal squad on the spot to defuse the bomb till this report was filed. The body was shifted to morgue after autopsy at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
