Sit-in to flop like marches: Shahbaz

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the Imran-Qadri collusion is a conspiracy against democratic system which will never succeed, says a handout issued here on Saturday.
While terming demands of Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri unconstitutional, he said people have rejected the politics of protest by showing indifference to long march and so-called revolution. He said Qadri’s demand for resignation and Imran Khan’s for technocrats government is totally unconstitutional and violation of the court decisions.
He said like Tsunami March and so-called Inqlaab, sit-ins will also flop. The CM said people gave mandate to the PML-N and that would be defended.
He said the demand of resignation from elected prime minister is undemocratic and unconstitutional. He said the secret of future of Pakistan lies in the democracy and democratic system. He said the solution of problems in politics is found through dialogue and mutual understanding.
He was talking to a delegation of PML-N assembly members.
Shahbaz said so-called revolutionaries are earning a bad name to the country. “People know well that who is creating chaos in the country and who is serving selflessly,” he added.
The CM said that at present, the army is fighting a war against terrorists and a conspiracy of dividing the nation has been hatched by launching long march. He said the country needs stability and not anarchy. He said in the present circumstances the country cannot afford anarchy or chaos. He said that the unity is much needed today than ever before.
Shahbaz said economic activities are being affected in the country due to untimely long march and so-called revolution. He said that the friendly countries are also upset on the present situation of Pakistan. He said that the enemies of development of the country and the nation are hatching conspiracies for creating instability.
He asked Imran Khan to leave stubbornness as negative attitudes in the politics are harmful for the stability of the country and democratic system.
He said the way of the elements working against national interests needs to be checked through unity. He said this is not the time for protests and sit-ins rather to steer the country out of the quagmire of problems.
Shahbaz said those dreaming unconstitutional steps will once again be disappointed. He said using the women and children by a so-called revolutionary as a shield is neither politics nor humanity. He said those elements are the claimants of so-called Inqlaab march who looted national exchequer ruthlessly and made the country bankrupt during dictatorial era. That is why those political elements have joined “Revolutionaries” who got waived off loans of billions of rupees on political grounds.
The CM said revolution cannot be brought by making collusion with those who committed dacoities in the banks and plundered national wealth in the name of development projects. He said brave forces of the country are making efforts to make Pakistan a haven of peace by sacrificing their lives in the war against terrorism whereas on the other hand, the protesting elements are bent upon to destabilise the country through negative and confrontational politics.
He said speedy completion of socio-economic development projects is the real worry of protesting elements. Shahbaz said he has served the masses during six years and expressed the hope that with the support of 180 million people of the country, conspirators will have to face humiliation.
