islamabad - Police have arrested three alleged car-lifters and recovered two stolen vehicles from them.

According to police, SP (Investigation) Muhammad Ilyas constituted a special team to trace those involved in car-lifting. The team succeeded to arrest three car-lifters and recovered two cars from them. The accused have been identified as Adam Khan alias Aziz, an Afghan national; Noor and Bilal, both residents of Peshawar. They have confessed to strike at various places in Rawalpindi and Islamabad in the limits of Aabpara and Shalimar police stations. It was revealed during the preliminary investigation that they used to sell the stolen cars in Charsadda and Peshawar. Raids are being conducted to arrest the other accomplices of the accused.

SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani has appreciated the performance of anti-car lifting team and announced special prizes and commendation certificates for its members.

Meanwhile, Kohsar police have booked a couple over defrauding 125 persons in the name of Hajj services. Mian Nadir Sher reported to police that he in March last paid Rs 23 million to Muhammad Aslam and his wife on behalf of 125 persons who wanted to perform Hajj. However, he said that the company Al-Harmain (Pvt), owned by Aslam, did not fulfil the commitment. Police are yet to arrest the accused and further investigation is under way.
