PESHAWAR - Jamaat-e-Islami Chief, Senator Siraj-ul-Haq has announced to move the Supreme Court of Pakistan against the menace of corruption and Panama paper leaks.
“A writ petition would be filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan on August 22, through Counsel Asad Manzor Butt, Secretary General Supreme Court Bar Association, seeking court’s role to advise the government to legislate to empower inquiry commission to probe Panama paper leaks,” he said.
Supporting the Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s movement for its martyred workers, the JI central ameer Siraj said taking out rallies and organizing protest gathering is a democratic right of every political party.
While addressing a news conference on Tuesday here at party’s provincial headquarter Al-Markaz Islami, Siraj urged the government to avoid insulting attitude with Afghan refugees rather facilitate and help them return to their homeland.
He added government’s insulting behaviour with Afghan migrants after hosting them for 38 long years in Pakistan will not leave a good impression in the minds of Afghan refugees.
Flanked by JI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter Ameer Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, and former Ameer Shabir Ahmad Khan, he said according to a report of the Swiss banks around 200 trillion rupees of Pakistanis are in the Swiss banks, which was also confirmed by Switzerland’s finance minister.
Senator Siraj-ul-Haq said PM Nawaz Sharif’s family has been alleged in Panama Leak papers, adding that JI wants accountability of all including the Premier.
The government is following delaying tactics in finalizing the ToRs, that’s why JI has decided to move the apex court through a writ petition to seek the role of the apex court to direct the government for a powerful law to investigate and try the convicts in the corruption cases including those surfaced in the Panama papers leaks.
