This Sunday, when Pakistan was celebrating its 70th Independence Day, tensions grew at LoC when India started firing from across the border around midnight and on the dawn of August 14. Keeping in view the continuously tense relations between the two countries, due to human rights violations in Indian-held Kashmir, it seems that both countries have failed to sit for dialogue. The blame game never ends between the two but still Pakistan offered a dialogue session on the violence in Kashmir so that the tensions can be released. Pakistan has extended its full support to the Kashmiris on the other side of the border and written a letter to UN Secretary General seeking resolution of the issue in accordance with the UN resolutions.

The international community needs to play an important role in helping both the countries resolve the issue so that the people of Kashmir can live in peace.

Although social media has played an important role in creating awareness among people about the brutal killings in Indian-held-Kashmir, we still seem to remain silent in the proper mediums.

MAHAM SHAH,

Lahore, August 15.
