Control of essential items prices is the responsibility of provincial govts: Shaukat Tarin

Prime Minister's Finance Advisor, Shaukat Tarin has said that bringing down the prices of ghee, mobil oil and other essential items including the transport fares was the responsibility of the provincial governments and their role in this respect was not satisfactory. On the sidelines of a Tax Policy Conference under the aegis of FBR in Islamabad, he told this to the media. Shaukat Tarin said that the taxpayers in the country count 2 million only, which was unacceptable and it should at least be doubled. He said that the cutback in inflation and trade deficit were the major challenges facing the country and the government was giving priority to it.
