As the six-hour loadshedding has resumed again in Lahore during the long winter nights, I wish to point out that the one-hour loadshedding from 3 to 4 A.M. is risky. This is the time when residents everywhere are in deep slumber after having retired late. In Defence where I live, even my dogs start barking furiously at this time of the night because of thieves prowling around in the darkened streets. This is the time when thieves have an opportunity to break into houses, especially if the owners don't keep guard dogs. The guards posted by the DHA keep whistling before midnight but even they are quietened down between 2 A.M. to 4 A.M. These are dangerous hours. So it is advisable to stop loadshedding between 1 A.M. to 5 A.M. and distribute this bit of load lag in the daytime. This would discourage the thieves from having an open field during long nights of the winter season and save residents from fear. -DR. MUHAMMAD YAQOOB BHATTI, Lahore December 15.
