Unknown armed men shot dead an official of Directorate of Public Relations and two police personnel on Monday morning.
Police sources said that unidentified gunmen riding bike opened indiscriminate fire at Khadim, an official of DPR near Shahrah-e-Iqbal, killing him on the spot. The same armed men opened fire at two police personnel who chased them for arrest.
As a result of firing, both police personnel received bullet injuries and succumbed to their wounds in hospital. The assailants managed to escape. The police while quoting preliminary investigation said that apparently it was sectarian killing.
The law enforcement personnel rushed to the site and cordoned off the entire area to trace the suspects. Further probe was in process.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani strongly condemned attacks on innocent citizens.
It is recalled here that unknown armed men had attacked a Principal of a residential college in Eastern Bypass area last day and lobbed hand grenade at a restaurant near Jinnah Road in the provincial capital that left five people injured including four workers of the restaurant and a vegetable vendor. The senior academician remain unhurt in that attack as his driver succeeded in steering out the Principal's vehicle from the site.
