AHMEDPUR EAST - The Bahawalpur National Awami Party (BNAP) will present its submissions for the restoration of former provincial status of Bahawalpur to the Federal Parliamentary Commission constituted for the creation of new provinces. The was decided made at a meeting of the central leaders of Bahawalpur National Awami Party chaired by its Chief Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi at his residence Sadiq Garh Palace Dera Nawab Sahib here on Sunday.

The meeting was attended by Member Parliamentary Commission from PPP MNA Arif Aziz Sheikh who briefed the participants about its modalities and functioning.

BNAP President Farooq Azam Malik, General Secretary Mian Ilyas Ayaz, Additional Secretary General Mian Rafatur Rehman Rehmani, PPP South Punjab Vice President Hassan Askari Sheikh and other leaders presented their proposals to Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi regarding the revival of former Bahawalpur province. The meeting lasted for five hours in which a document containing a draft of geographical, historical background of former Bahawalpur province, its judiciary economic, agricultural, health, education and irrigation systems.

BNAP President Farooq Azam Malik show up to the Parliamentary Commission on December 18 to plead the case for the restoration of Bahawalpur province.

Speaking on the occasion, Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi said, "it is time for my people to rise and get their right of the provincial status - which was denied by a usurper. This is about time to wrap up the unjust system and reject the step-motherly treatment meted out to Bahawalpur and its people by successive regimes that have time-and-again abused, ignored and looted the people and state resources, he alleged.

Nawab Abbasi thanked member of the Parliamentary Commission Arif Aziz Sheikh for his input and said that the BNAP would only recognise the agreement reached between Quaid-e-Azam and Nawab Sadiq Mohammad Khan-VI. He pointed out, "Leaving behind my family traditions, I am here amongst you and would remain with you till the province is restored... we all promise to live and die for the cause of Bahawalpur Province," the Nawab declared.

Meanwhile, Sadiq Garh Palace Dera Nawab Sahib has become the centre of political activities nowadays. A delegation of "Awam Dost Group" Khairpur Tamewali headed by Malik Riaz Gaddan called on Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi and invited him to address a public meeting in Khairpur Tamewali. He announced joining the struggle of the movement for the restoration of Bahawalpur province. PPP Ahmedpur East Tehsil President Sardar Kamran Khan Dahar also held a meeting with Nawab Abbasi and expressed his full confidence in his leadership. He told him that Dahar family would fully participate in Bahawalpur province movement.

Meanwhile a prominent leader of PML-N Malik Jehangir Warran also contacted Nawab Abbasi. He is younger brother of PML-N Provincial Parliamentary Secretary Malik Jehanzeb Warran and younger brother of PPP MNA Mrs Khadija Warran. Political circles are attaching great importance to this meeting as Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi has announced contest from Warran's home constituency NA-184 Bahawalpur 2.
