Executive Council of APHC (All Parties Hurriyat Conference) is in Pakistan starting from Dec 15 to December 22, 2012 on the invitation of Hina Rabbani Khar Foreign Minister of Pakistan. There is great hope that this meeting will ultimately lead to the peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue, the real bone of contention between the two countries. The bilateral relations between the two countries that came to a standstill in the wake of Mumbai carnage in 2008 are being resumed and this step is certainly in the right direction.

Now both sides do agree that resolution of Kashmir issue is the priority for both of them. The dialogue process shall also narrow down the differences on Sir Creek and Siachen. Some Indian media hardliners, who want to wreck the peace initiative, have adopted restraint and over-cautious attitude towards the upcoming trip of the Hurriyat leaders. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that India wants to resolve all issues, including Jammu and Kashmir issue with Pakistan through dialogue.

Experts say that large majority of Indian populace wants peace to prevail so that the pace of economic prosperity continues. It is strange that some segments of Indian media have started a negative campaign against the visit of the Hurriyat leaders. Some adverse forces from India do not want improvement of relations between Pakistan and APHC leaders but we should thwart their designs. Pakistan has the same old stand on Kashmir. We sincerely want Kashmir issue to be resolved as per the wishes of Kashmiri people. We want the solution as given in the UN Charter. Our media should seize this opportunity and rise to the occasion and take necessary steps so that the prevailing development in the peace initiatives does not go to waste once again.
