MANDI BAHAUDDIN - A meeting of the Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society Mandi Bahauddin was held at Committee Bagh under the chair of its Senior Vice President Major (r) Javed Nasir. The conference reviewed the arrangements for the ex-servicemen's rally for "one rank on pension" and other demands. It is scheduled to be held on December 18 outside the Press Club.

Talking to the media, PESS Secretary Information Subedar Riaz Warriach said that the ex-servicemen were the ones who once offered selfless service in defense of the nation but they were not being provided with facilities. He said that the ex-servicemen filed a writ petition in the Federal Shariat Court for "one rank one pension" and the court passed a verdict in their favour.

However, he added, a long time has passed since then but the government had paid no heed to the issue. There is a provision for reemployment of retired soldiers in government service against reserved quota but the government has not implemented the scheme. A many ex-servicemen are living below the poverty line, he noted.

Six gamblers held: -The police claimed to have arrested six gamblers in Mohallah Tariqabad area here the other day. Civil Lines Police SHO Tariq Warriach along with his team raided a gambling den in Tariqabad Mohallah and caught six gamblers red-handed.

Police also recovered bait money amounting to Rs39,000 from the spot. A case was registered against the accused.

Model bazaar visited: Punjab Industries Deputy Secretary Shamim Inam and Punjab Model Bazaars focal person Nasir Rafique visited here on Sunday model bazaar and checked different stalls. District Officer (Planning) Naveed Olakh and local model bazaar in-charge Mian Saqib Shahzad briefed both the officials about the reduced prices of commodities in their bazaar.
