LAHORE – Provincial government on Sunday decided to allot residential flats to the labourers on ownership basis for the first time in the history of the country.
As many as 2000 residential units will be constructed during current fiscal year in Sialkot, Gujranwala and Multan.
While talking to delegations of labourers, Provincial Labour Minister Ehsanuddin Qureshi said that government will provide state of the art health care facilities to the labourers and labour department will spend Rs 4.31 billion for the provision of state of the art healthcare facilities to the labourers and their families during current fiscal year. He said that new social security hospitals would be made and existing hospitals would be updated. He told that during current financial year a new social security hospital will be established at Sheikhupura where modern facilities and medical equipments will be provided. He said that the social security is introducing hospital management information system costing rupees 107 million, the scheme would be introduced at the dispensary level in phases.
Ehsanuddin Qureshi said that a labour colony consisting of 1296 flats costing more than Rs 2177 million on 47 acre land had been constructed on Defence Road Lahore for labourers, whereas, labour colony constructed in Muzaffargarh consisting of 303 residential units. He said that the labourers play important role for the development of the country.
