PESHAWAR - Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman Sunday urged the government not to impose any decision on tribesmen regarding Fata’s future status, rather take a representative tribal jirga into confidence in this regard.

JUI-F will accept any decision on Fata’s future status, if it is made after taking a representative jirga of tribesmen into confidence, he stressed. Being a representative tribal jirga, its decision would be acceptable to all, he said this while talking to media persons here.

The jirga, he said, was formed by the JUI-F after having detailed meetings with all stakeholders, he said. Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that tribal people must be given freehand to decide their future instead of imposing any decision on them.

Commenting on current situation, he said the country is passing through its difficult juncture of its history, adding that law and order, and unemployment and other issues were unsolved during last four and half years. He said that undeclared martial law was imposed in the country. He said the military officials are making decisions in different districts of KPK.

He said that present coalition government had failed to come up with the expectations of the masses. Instead of giving relief to the common people of the country, the present government was interested only to appease US administration. He said people’s miseries had doubled, but government was playing its role as a silent spectator, adding that government did nothing for the welfare of the people of the country.

Flanked by opposition leader in KPK Assembly, Akram Khan Durrani and JUI-information secretary, Haji Abdul Jalil Jan and others he condemned attack on Bacha Khan Airport and termed it an outcome of the wrong policies the government had adopted.

Earlier, JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman while addressing a tribal jirga in Peshawar, which was attended by about 400 tribal elders and Malaks, he said that participants of the jirga unanimously endorsed the recommendations presented in the meeting held on November 19 last.

He strongly condemned the military operations and drone attacks in Fata. He said that country independence, integrity and solidarity were at stake. He said that use of force is not solution of issues in tribal region.

The JUI chief said that the military operation in the tribal areas would not help solve the problem. He said the government and the military establishment should repose confidence in the tribal jirga.
