FAISALABAD - Speakers at a workshop stressed the need for developing and promoting research activities across the country to open up new avenues for progress and fight modern challenges, during the concluding session of a three-day workshop.

The workshop was organised by GC University Faisalabad's College of Computer Sciences and Information Studies in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission. The national workshop was titled 'Research Methodologies and Effective Publication Practices'.

The session was co-chaired by Faculty of Science and Technology Dean Dr Naureen Aziz Qureshi and Faculty of Management and Administrative Sciences Dean Dr Shahbaz Arif. Dr Naureen Aziz Qureshi stressed the need for following all the parameters of research in line with the international standards. Talking about new technologies, she said that the world was changing rapidly. In the modern era, the information technology has gained importance so the nation should take benefit of the new advancement.

Dr Shahbaz Arif briefed the participants about the research techniques. He urged the participants to utilise their skills in the field for the betterment of mankind. He called for developing a force of skilled researchers in order to compete with the modern world.

College Principal Dr Nadim Asif said the workshop was aimed at honing the skills of the students and creating an atmosphere of research in the country. Dr Fazal-e-Amin educated the audience about the copy rights, avoiding plagiarism, intellectual property rights and other area of research. Principal Organiser Engineer Adeel Rifaat said that it was need of the hour to conduct valuable research and steps should also be taken to promote it. Dr Naureen Aziz Qureshi distributed certificates to the participants.
