Federal Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique announced Rs one million financial assistance for the heirs of deceased Railways Special Ticket Examiner Rana Shabbir Hussain who was tortured to death by four students of a local Commerce College. He also announced a job for the deceased’s son in Pakistan Railways.

Talking to the media men after offering funeral for the deceased Rana Shabbir here the other evening, the minister declared that an investigation team under the supervision of Railways Police DSP Mehar Kousar Malik had been constituted to arrest the remaining culprits as one of them namely Khurrum Shehzad had already been taken into custody.

Earlier, funeral for the deceased was offered at his hometown Jandiala Sher Khan, some 16-km away from here where later he was laid to rest in the presence of a large number of mourners. Besides Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, a large number of Railways officers and officials, notables of the area and people from all walks of life attended the funeral.

It is to recall that four students of Sheikhupura Commerce College identified as Khurram Shahzad, Adil, Bisharat and Bilal tortured Rana Shabbir to death when he caught them travelling without ticket at platform number 8 in Lahore railway station.
