Civil society activists held a candlelight vigil here at Chowk Nawan Shehr on Tuesday evening to exhibit solidarity with the parents of schoolchildren martyred by the terrorists in Peshawar. Dozens of men, women and children assembled at the Chowk and lit candles to mourn the killings. They were led by Musharraf Qureshi. They also carried out sloganeering against the terrorists and demanded the government to launch a ruthless operation across the country and eliminate the terrorists.
Similarly, the workers of Majlis Wahdat ul Muslimeen also organized a candle light vigil outside Multan Press Club. The MWM activists chanted slogans against Taliban and said that the nation had seen the real face of the beasts.
Meanwhile, prominent personalities from all sections of society including politicians, religious leaders, lawyers, traders and Civil Society activists strongly condemned the barbaric incident and demanded action against the terrorists. Veteran politician Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, PTI-backed MNA from Multan Malik Aamir Dogar, PML (N) MNA Abdul Ghaffar Dogar, PPP leader Dr Javed Siddiqui, PTI leader Ijaz Janjua, JI district Ameer Asif Mahmood Akhwani and others expressed strong sense of grief and sadness on the tragedy.
The representatives of Ahl-e-Hadith Youth Force Qari Hidayat Ullah and Muhammad Abdullah said that the terrorists attacked the future of the nation. They asked the nation to chalk out a unanimous line of action to protect its future.
