LAHORE - Plains of the country including Lahore remained in the grip of cold on Tuesday with experts predicting the prevailing harsh weather conditions to persist during the next couple of days. Besides severe cold, fog disturbed routine life in plains as less visibility hampered vehicular movement on important intercity and intra city roads in the morning and late at night.
Weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country. Foggy conditions prevailed at scattered places of plain areas of Punjab and Khyber PK in the morning.
Skardu remained coldest place in the country where mercury dropped 08 degree Celsius below freezing point. Mercury dropped to -07 C in Kalat, Astore and Quetta, -06 C in Gilgit and Gupis, -04 C in Hunza, Kalam and Dir, -03 C in Rawalakot and Dalbandin and -02 C in Drosh, Malamjabba and Murree, -01 C in Bunji, Chitral, Mirkhani, Parachinar and Lower Dir. Maximum and minimum temperature in the City was recorded 19 C and 05 C respectively.
Relative humidity in the evening was recorded 56 per cent. According to the experts, continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. Local meteorological department has forecast mainly cold and dry weather for most parts of the country. Foggy conditions are expected to prevail over the plains of Punjab, Khyber PK and upper Sindh during morning hours.
