Security holes to be plugged: Bugti

QUETTA -  Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti and spokesman for the Balochistan government Anwarul Haq Kakar yesterday welcomed the fact-finding report of the commission formed by the apex court, terming it a source of reformation for the province.

Addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club on Friday, Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti said the provincial government and the home department had provided all possible cooperation to the Supreme Court one-bench inquiry commission. He added the provincial government would provide all sorts of cooperation needed by the apex court or the commission.

Bugti added the Balochistan government had achieved success in Pishin operation in which the security forces shot dead the mastermind of the Civil Hospital carnage along with other perpetrators.

There is no safe haven for terrorists in Balochistan, claimed the Balochistan home minister and pledged no clemency would be demonstrated against miscreants.

Bugti said the Balochistan government was not the exclusive stakeholder in border security management as there were more stakeholders in it, adding if any mechanism for security and compact border management was carved out with the consent of all stakeholders, the provincial government would not only ensure its cooperation, but also perform its obligations with more comprehensive approach.

Responding to a query, Sarfraz Bugti replied, “I will clear my position concerning my statement in the Supreme Court.”

To another question, the home minister asserted the Balochistan chief minister had been elected with public mandate and any demand for his resignation would be unjustifiable.

Spokesman for the Balochistan government, Anwarul Haq, addressing the press conference, hailed the report of the Supreme Court one-bench commission and pledged the security lapses pointed out by it would be prevented in future.

The spokesman added the provincial government would exploit all available resources to plug the Achilles heels pointed out by the commission.
