ISLAMABAD - The guarantor of former finance minister Ishaq Dar has filed a writ petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the judgment of the accountability court about confiscation of his property and the surety bond.
Petitioner Ahmed Ali Quddusi has taken the plea that Ishaq Dar was appearing before the court, keeping in view the court’s prestige, but it illegally rejected his application of exemption from appearance. “Despite appearing before the accountability court till October 23, 2017, the application filed by Ishaq Dar on medical grounds has been rejected,” the petitioner added.
In the petition, AC No 1 Judge Muhammad Bashir Khan and NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal have been made parties.
The petitioner contended that Ishaq Dar on September 27, 2017, had furnished the surety bond worth Rs 5 million. Later, he left for Tajikistan on an official tour and then for Saudi Arabia to perform Umra. He added former finance minister Ishaq Dar was under treatment in London at present.
The AC No 1 rejected all his applications, besides ordering confiscation of the money and property of the guarantor on December 14, which was illegal, the petitioner argued, requesting the IHC to declare the judgment of the accountability court null and void.
