The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the authorities concerned to disconnect utility facilities of Makkah Terrace.
The SHC issued a written order to disconnect utility facilities of Makkah Terrace. It was stated that the residents are apparently using delaying tactics in evacuating the building.
The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has been directed to take assistance from the law enforcement agencies (LEAs). It was stated that implementation of the decision remained undone despite the clear order on November 10.
The high court said that 8 out of 12 residents have not yet evacuated the portions. It has been directed to SBCA to contact utility companies for disconnecting the facilities. The court issued directives to present a report by January 12 after demolishing the illegal construction.
On December 1, the SHC had directed the builder of the Makkah Terrace to arrange rented houses and bear the shifting expenses of the allottees of the building.
The SHC bench had ordered the SBCA lawyer to vacate the building within a week, ordered to keep the building empty until its repair after razing its illegal portion.
It must be noted that last month, the SHC while ordering action against the four-storey portion of Makkah Terrace had remarked that whatever is illegal should be demolished and a report should be submitted within a month.
