LAHORE Pakistan government, currently engaged in talks with US authorities to resolve Dr Aafia Siddiquis issue, is also mulling over seeking presidential pardon for the Pakistani citizen after the judicial proceedings conclusion. Sources privy to the ongoing parleys between the two countries have confided to TheNation that the US was disinclined to giving any concessions to Pakistan at this stage when the matter was still subjudice. They said the government would also file a review petition after courts decision on awarding punishment to Dr Aafia Siddiqui who was held guilty by the American jury. If the decision remains the same, the government would then request President Barack Obama to pardon her. And if this demand is turned down by the US President, then President of Pakistan would request his counterpart to allow Dr Aafia to complete her sentence in Pakistan, diplomatic sources further told this scribe, adding that this would provide the family a certain degree of solace if she is allowed to undergo her term in her own country.
