ISPR confirms Mullah Baradar's arrest

Spokesman Pakistan Army Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas has confirmed arrest of top Taliban military commander and Head of Taliban Quetta Shura Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar from Pakistan. "It has been confirmed that the man arrested from Pakistan was Naib of Afghan Taliban founder Mullah Muhammad Omar's as well as Head of Taliban Quetta Shura Abdul Ghani Baradar, however, due to security reason, the place of arrest and operational details can be issued, said DG ISPR Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas in a statement issued here on Wednesday. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar was also close associate of world most wanted terrorist Osama Bin Laden. It may be recalled here the Taliban's top military commander was arrested in a joint CIA-Pakistani operation in Karachi some three days go and he has been handed over to Pakistani authorities for interrogation. The Taliban has denied his arrest but on Wednesday ISPR has officially confirmed his arrest.
