ISLAMABAD In a surprise move to bridge the gap between the two top institutions, Presidency and the judiciary, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani attended a dinner hosted by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in the honour of outgoing judge of the Supreme Court Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday. The Prime Minister spent some time with legal fraternity including the judges of superior judiciary in a light mood and shared his views with the lawyers. He praised the lawyers who offered services for the supremacy of law and justice in Pakistan. The political and legal brains termed the surprise visit of Gilani a good omen for removing the ongoing tension prevailing in the country. The honourable judges of superior judiciary and the noted lawyers including Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan attended the dinner arranged at the ceremonial hall of the Supreme Court at Islamabad. In that get together, the lawyers welcomed the Prime Minister and termed that PMs visit was the pressing need of the day. A meeting between the Prime Minister and the Chief Justice is also expected today (Wednesday) at 03:00 p.m., the sources informed TheNation.
