LAHORE - The young people always played an important role in every struggle of the world but unfortunately the elite get the fruits of their struggle, remark youth wing leaders of various political parties. President PML-N (Youth Wing), Mian Ghulam Hussain Shahid, President Peoples Youth Organisation Punjab, Mian Ayub, Dr Atif-ud-Din, leader of PTIs Insaaf Student Federation and Abid Mir leader of Shabab-i-Milli expressed these views while addressing the participants of a forum 'The Role and Importance of Youth in Pakistani Politics held at Hameed Nizami Hall under the auspices of The Nation, Nawa-I-Waqt and Waqt News on Tuesday. President PML-N (youth wing), Mian Ghulam Hussain Shahid said that the youngsters following their great leader Quaid-i-Azam had played an important role in the freedom struggle of Pakistan. Similarly, founder of the Chinese state, Mao Zedong changed the fate of China with the help of the young people and again it were the youngsters and not feudals who had given a warm reception to PPP leader Zulfikar Ali Bhutto when he reached Lahore after quitting the government. He said the young people were always on the forefront for rendering sacrifices whether it was Tehrik Nizam-i-Mustafa or Tehrik-i-Nijaat. About the dilemma of political parties, he said there were no political workers left in political parties but the investors had taken the place of the political activists. He said General Zias reign had eliminated the politics of ideology in the country. President Peoples Youth Organization Punjab, Mian Ayub said the youngsters were backbone of the political parties but they were always ignored. He said the elite has established double standards in every aspect of life, especially in politics and education and the elite were the main hurdle in the progress of the young people. He said young people have always played an important role in all the movements of the world. He said that it was mostly the youngsters who welcomed Benazir Bhutto on her arrival at Lahore in 1986 and at Karachi in 2007. He said the youth wings were the real power of the political parties but unfortunately they were always ignored. He said the women and minorities have representation in the Parliaments but the youngsters were ignored. Dr Atif-ud-Din, leader of PTIs Insaaf Student Federation said that young people had always played role not only in the politics in Pakistan but across the world. He said that Quaid-i-Azam always banked on the support of the young people but they were ignored after creation of Pakistan. He said ruling elite and interest groups fearing the youngsters never let them to become part of the power. Abid Mir, leader of Shabab-i-Milli said that change in the politics of the country could be brought only through sending the young people to the Parliament. He said it was the great young commander Muhammad Bin Qasim who hoisted the flag of Islam in the sub-continent. He said Quaid-i-Azam had a strong faith in the young people and Founder of Pakistan always depended on the support of the youngsters during the days of freedom struggle for Pakistan, however, it was highly unfortunate that youngsters were being ignored continuously after the creation of our motherland.
