Careem signs deal with Pathfinder Group
KARACHI (PR): Careem, the MENA region’s leading app-based car booking service, has signed an important agreement with the Pathfinder Group, Pakistan’s largest private security group, to conduct detailed background checks on the company’s ‘Captains’ (drivers).
“Not only do we want to offer our customers a relaxed and hassle-free travel option, we also want to make sure that our Captains are of the highest calibre,” Junaid Iqbal, Managing Director of Careem, says. “Security and the safety of our clients are of paramount importance to us and we will do all that we can to make them safer.”
Working with Research and Collection Services (RCS) – a specialised company under the Pathfinder Group’s umbrella that not only has vast expertise when it comes to conducting their multi step credentials verification process, but also an impressive client list that includes foreign missions.
Speaking at the deal’s signing ceremony, Chairman of the Pathfinder Group and famous defence analyst, Ikram Sehgal, said: “I am delighted to see such a cutting-edge service coming to Pakistan. The Pathfinder Group has more than 20 years of experience when it comes to leading the way in the security industry, and we are very excited to be working with Careem to assist the company in making its rides as safe as possible.”
EFU Life announces100pc cash dividend for 2015
KARACHI (PR): EFU Life Assurance Ltd, the leading private sector life insurance company in Pakistan, has announced its financial results for the year ended 31 December 2015 as approved in the meeting of the Board of Directors held the other day. The company posted a profit after tax of Rs 1.475 billion for the year 2015with earnings per share of Rs. 14.75. The company declared a final cash dividend of 70%, i.e. Rs.7 per share, taking the total cash dividend payout to 100%, i.e. Rs.10 per share for the year.
EFU Life is the highest capitalized private sector life insurance company in Pakistan with a paid-up capital of Rs. 1 billion and the largest asset base of Rs. 91 billion. The company has an insurer financial strength rating of AA (Outlook: Stable) by JCR VIS.
LSE hosts int’l conference
LAHORE (PR): The dramatic decline in the oil prices could pose a major economic challenge to ensuring a stable trade balance if the rate of growth of remittances declines especially from the Middle-East.
This was stated by Dr Ishrat Hussain, Director IBA and former Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, in his keynote opening address at the International Conference on the “Pakistani Diaspora: Strengthening Linkages between Host and Home Countries” being organized by the Lahore School of Economics on February 16-17, 2016.
Stefano Gatto, Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union Delegation to Pakistan, AND Dr Rashid Amjad, Director, GIDS, Lahore School of Economics, also addressed the event.
Some of the prominent speakers from outside Pakistan included Professor Philippe Fargues, Manolo Abella, Dr Ibrahim Awad, Dr Yannis Papantoniou, Dr Marta Bolongnani, and Dr Piyasiri Wickramasekara.

Student’s achievement
ISLAMABAD (PR): Wasi Sami Siddiqui of Roots Ivy International School, DHA-I Campus, Islamabad topped in the world in the “Pakistan Studies” subject of Cambridge International Examinations 2015-16. SEF, EFS ink MoU
KARACHI (PR): Sindh Education Foundation (Govt of Sindh) and Education Fund for Sindh (EFS), a private sector non-profit company, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide access to quality education to out of school children in Sindh. Both will combine their resources under a joint steering committee to provide support to EFS Intermediary partners. This will enable the implementing partner to scale their scope of activities with special focus on improving the educational landscape in rural Sindh.
