BAHAWALPUR

The 9th convocation of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur was held at Baghdadul Jadeed Campus while some of the 2013 toppers were not given gold medals that were not prepared yet.

On the occasion, 2,688 graduates of sessions 2012 and 2013 were given degrees and medals including 7 PhD, 90 MPhil, 186 gold medal and 148 silver medals. However, a few graduates could not receive their gold medals. It was clarified that last evening, it was revealed that a few medals for the 2013 session had not yet been prepared and these graduates were apprised that their medals will be provided soon.

Dr Qaiser Mushtaq, vice chancellor of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in his welcome speech, highlighted the academic and development activities. He thanked the government for supporting the development projects and scholarships for students.

Minister of State for Education Balighur Rehman and Punjab Minister for Education Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan attended the convocation.

The students described it as injustice and urged the government to take notice of the step. They said that the university administration should have considered the toppers for the gold medals as it would have a great encouragement for them.
