PESHAWAR - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa sports department has introduced a complaint cell for the Under-23 Games 2016 to be held in the province.
Deputy Secretary Sports Adil Safi Tuesday said that if the players (male and female) faced any problem or had complaints of any sort, they could contact directly Director General Sports Rashida Ghaznavi on 091-9212727/ 091-9212768/ 0345-9556668/dgsports3@gmail.com/Office of the Director General of Sports, Qayyum Stadium Peshawar.
“The aim of the activity is to hunt talented players and bring them to forth so that their abilities and potential could be explored in a proper way,” Adil Safi said and added: “Rs 74 million have been allocated for the spectacular sports competitions, which will kick off in end of February and conclude in the final week of March right before the commencement of Quaid-e-Azam National Games.”
He said that committees had been formed in Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Swat, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat and other districts, which have started the process of players’ selection in a transparent manner.
More than 5000 players are expected to participate in the thrilling competitions. The men and women would be given equal opportunities in the sports. The games for men will included cricket, football, volleyball, hockey, squash, badminton, table tennis, boxing, athletics, gymnastic, judo, Karate and Taekwondo. Cricket, netball, hockey, basketball, squash, badminton, table tennis, athletic, judo, wushu and taekwondo will be for women.
During the meeting, DG Sports Rashida said: “All arrangements have been finalised for the inauguration of trophy and logo of the U-23 Games 2016 on February 23 at Qayyum Stadium.
“The unveiling of logo and trophy was aimed at creating awareness among the under-23 players, both male and female, of various games to participate. The meeting participants were also informed that trials for the U-23 Games 2016 have begun in the divisions to pick talented youth for the respective games.” Director Sports Tariq Mehmood said the outstanding players would be given prizes, trophies and sports kits at the end of the gala.
