BAHAWALPUR
Punjab Minister Rana Mashood Ahmad said that students are the asset and future of Pakistan as they are to run the national affairs in the future.
They should be provided with the best education for which revolutionary steps are being taken by the government, he said. he was addressing the inauguration ceremony of newly construction Administration Block of Government Sadiq College Women University. The project was completed at a cost of Rs27.5 million.
The minister said that scholarships are being provided for bright students in accordance with Punjab Educational Endowment Funds (PEEF) and until now more than 100,000 students have benefited from the programme. He added that endowment fund had reached over Rs16 billion.
He said that through PEEF, the poor and bright students will get the opportunities to get higher education within or outside the country. He added that it is the vision of CM Punjab that women should be independent and special quota has been allocated for women in jobs. He directed the female students that they should get education with full interest and hard work and do not take short cuts for success.
He said that students should respect their parents and teachers and come up to their expectation. He added Pakistan should be developed on basis of education that is why the government was taking great interest in the education sector.
Mashood also paid a surprising visit to Government Comprehensive School, Government Sadiq Dan High School and Government SE College Bahawalpur where he checked the security arrangements and attendance of the teachers.
He said that fool proof security arrangements in the education institutes be ensured, security guards observe their duties actively on the gates and other places.
He said that CCTV cameras be made effective and monitoring be done. Duty officer remain present in the control room all times, he directed. He also visited the classrooms and asked the students various question regarding their education.
