ISLAMABAD - The Punjab Forensic Laboratory report verified that Sumaira Malik’s pictures on her bachelor degree admission form and roll number slip are genuine.

Dr Muhammad Ashraf Tahir, Director General Punjab Forensic Science Agency, told a five-member larger bench of the Supreme Court that photographs of Sumiara Malik were found genuine through four methods.

Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamli, heading the bench, heard Sumaira Malik review petition against her disqualification by the apex court

Dr Ashraf said the fresh photo of Sumaira Malik was matched with the photographs inscribed on the National Identity Card (NIC), Admission Form as well as on Roll No. slip and consequently all the photographs were found genuine.

The court ruled if anybody has objection over the verification of the photos, he can submit his objections in writing in two weeks.

On October 28, 2013 a three-member bench of the apex court headed by former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising Justice Jawad S Khawaja and Justice Gulzar Ahmed had disqualified Sumaira Malik for possessing fake degree and ruled that she would not be entitled to contest the election in future as well.

Sumaira Malik, appearing before the court, contended that she has been facing hardship for the last two years despite the fact that her university degree was declared genuine.

Advocate Hamid Khan, representing Malik Umar Aslam, the rival candidate of Sumaira Malik, argued that the bench which had given verdict against Sumaira Malik comprised three judges. He said two of them have retired while one Justice Gulzar Ahmed is still available but not in the present bench which is hearing the review petition. Upon that the chief justice asked the counsel to file an application in this regard.

The court adjourned the hearing till 2nd week of March.
