PHC suspends surgeries in 256 operation theatres
The Punjab Healthcare Commission has suspended surgeries in 256 operation theatres of 356hospitals, and issued show-cause notices to 314 healthcare establishments for not implementing the Minimum Service Delivery Standards. This was told during a briefing for Minister Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Kh Salman Rafiq at the PHC office on Friday. Chief Operating Officer Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan mentioned that the ongoing campaign of the special inspections was initiated during the first week of January, and prior to this, the PHC had carried out more than 14,000 inspections of the public and private hospitals. About various aspects of the inspections, he said the PHC teams primarily inspected those areas, which largely affect the masses and patients directly, and these included hospital infection control, operation theatre surveillance, hospital waste management arrangements, emergency services, fire and non-fire emergencies, safe blood transfusion and complaint management system.–Staff Reporter
Munna Lahori passes away
Matloobur Rehman, popularly known as Munna Lahori, passed away, news channels reported late on Friday night. He breathed his last at Mayo Hospital. Munna got to fame after his role as Zakota Jin in famous play Aiknak Wala Jin. Reportedly, the star has been paralysed since 2012. Though government gave him financial help but lack of work and deteriorating health left him in the lurch. –Monitoring
Child artists show their skills at NCA
To promote education and visual culture among children, the seventh National Child Art Competition and Exhibition was held at National College of Arts (NCA) Friday. This year’s theme was ‘My Likes, City, Dreams and Village’. The young artists were given freedom to express what their liking are, what they want to become, how they grow up, how they see people and surrounding of their area they live in. A total of 275 schools, 14 communities were shortlisted to display their work in the exhibition. The jury and guest of honors were Dr Ajaz Anwar, Madam Anila Zulfiqar, Ali Azmat, Basir Mehmood, Sir R M Naeem, Sadaf Naeem, Wardah Naeem Bukhari, Madam Sumaira Jawad and Zil E Batool.
