KHAIRPUR - A seminar on “Arab Spring & Beyond” was organised by the Institute of International Relations at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) on Friday.
Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology & Skill Development Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Syed Madad Ali Shah was guest speaker. Dr Syed said that oppressed people are raising their voices. The developed countries are trying to use world forums to serve their interests.
He said that students must keep an eye on the rapid changes and conspiracies in the world. He highlighted the history, geopolitical importance, crisis of Middle East and evolution of Arab Spring.
Institute of International Relations Director Prof Dr Amir Ahmed Khuhro said that some Muslim countries are suppressing Muslims.
Ishrat Mirani said that international public pressure may be raised to stop bloodshed in Yemen. He criticised the clean water and food crisis in Yemen, which is an inhuman act.
Dr Nisar Kanhar, Dr Amir Chandio, Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah, Professor Mustafa Buledi, Dr Riaz Shaikh, Professor Liaquat Chandio, Ahmed Memon, Naseem Abbas Chandio, faculty and students attended the seminar.
SPECIAL CELL TO MONITOR
ELECTION CAMPAIGN
Ghotki Regional Election Commissioner Noor Muhammad Mari said that the Election Commission of Pakistan has formed a special cell to monitor the electioneering for by-election of Provincial Assembly of Sindh seat (PS-7).
Talking to the media on Friday, he said that if any politician/worker was found violating code of conduct Rs 50,000 fine would be imposed on the person. He said that the ECP would strictly monitor the campaign.
PLANTATION DRIVE
Khairpur Deputy Commissioner Javed Ali Jagirani planted saplings of Neem at Sabzazar Lawn of DC office on Friday.
On the occasion, Javed said that plantation and beautification reflect aesthetic sense because beautification is an art in the horticulture.
He said that plantation provides us clean environment and oxygen to human, therefore trees are necessary. He advised trees in schools, colleges and public places in all eight talukas of district.
Khairpur forest deputy director said that 175,000 trees will be planted in district Khairpur in the ongoing session and 25,000 trees have been planted so far. All necessary arrangements have been finalised in this regard.
ADC-1 Abdul Karim Memon, all assistant commissioners, Mukhtiarkar and other officials were present on the occasion.
