LAHORE - Inspector General of Police, Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar has directed the police officers to perform their duties judiciously and diligently by keeping themselves above from all sorts of fear, influence and greed. The IGP was addressing the meeting of newly promoted DSPs at CPO here on Saturday. Addl IGP Israr Ahmad and DIG Headquarters Rai Altaf Hussain were also present on the occasion. The IGP advised the newly promoted 108 DSPs to improve the image of police department by exhibiting their best professional capabilities for ensuring quick relief to the people and elimination of terrorism and crime in the province. The IGP maintained that the whole hearted commitment and precious sacrifices of officers/officials of Punjab Police in combating against the recent wave of terrorism have helped a lot in bridging the gap between the people and police department. He stressed upon the police officers/officials to deal nicely and respectfully with the citizens visiting police offices/police stations and ensure quick response of their grievances instead of keeping them in waiting so that the publics opinion regarding the police could be favourably changed. Tariq Saleem Dogar said that the responsibilities of police were very sacred. He also advised that by regular inspection of police stations, prompt registration of cases and merit oriented investigations and non-apprehension of innocent citizens we can achieve the blessings of Almighty Allah and peoples confidence, which are highly essential for eradication of the roots of crime and terrorism from the society. The IG further said that no doubt like other organizations there were also some good and negative points in the police department however, I would like to appeal the general masses for pinpointing the corrupt elements in the police force so that severe disciplinary action could be taken against them. The IG said that it was heartening to note that in combating the war on terrorism, the people have fully cooperated with the police by providing useful information to the police, which helped a lot in curbing the menace of terrorism.
