ISLAMABAD - On the directions of Chairman Capital Development Authority Maroof Afzal, the CDA member engineering and environment visited Marghzar Zoo on Thursday.
During his visit to the zoo, the CDA member engineering and environment directed the zoo administration to formulate strategy for phase wise up-gradation of the zoo at par with international standards. The zoo staff should be properly trained to educate the visiting students about the zoo inmates. Planting more trees and grass particularly along the pathways and passages should increase greenery in the zoo. To increase beauty of the zoo, the pavements should be repaired and flowery plants should be planted.
He also directed that environment wing should work to improve the conditions at Marghzar Zoo to make it informative recreation place for the citizens. He further said that Marghzar Zoo is located on the foothills of the Margalla Hills where the visitors can see birds and animals as well as can enjoy the scenic beauty of Magalla Hills. The people visiting zoo from Islamabad and also its suburbs should be provided complete details about the birds and animals. Appropriate arrangements should be made to save zoo inmates from affects of cold weather. Proper food as per international standards should be ensured for birds and animals, he added.
During the visit, the member and senior officials visited different parts of the zoo and inquired about the food being served to the animals and birds.
The member environment also directed on the occasion to clear the zoo of wild bushes. The senior officials of environment wing along with zoo officials of Environment Wing were present on the occasion.
