LAHORE - Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf has congratulated Qamar Ahmed on achieving the unique distinction of covering his 400th Test match as cricket writer/broadcaster.
With the start of third Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at Sharjah, Qamar accomplished this landmark. The PCB acknowledged his distinction by presenting him with a memento to mark the occasion. Pakistan team manager Moin Khan presented the memento on behalf of the board during the lunch time break on the first day of the third Test. With the entire Pakistan squad looking on Pakistan captain Misbahul Haq also presented a team shirt signed by Pakistan team to Qamar Ahmed.
“A century in any form of cricket is considered standout achievement. A quadruple hundred has happened in cricket but ever so rarely that you can count it on the fingers of one hand.”
To be covering 400th Test match as writer or broadcaster for leading newspapers, journals, radio stations and television puts Qamar’s distinction in the same class. This is a testament to his caliber and endurance,” he added.
“I congratulate Qamar on reaching the landmark. With this distinction, he has made us feel proud as Pakistanis,” added Zaka.
Qamar Ahmed, a former first class cricketer, is a standout cricket journalist and broadcaster who has contributed to leading newspapers in Pakistan, England and elsewhere, and commentated for various radio stations and television channels.
