MIRPUR (AJK)

A single member bench of the Azad Jammu & Kashmir High Court on Friday issued a stay order as an interim relief, suspending the AJK government’s recent decision regarding relocation of Store Division of the AJK Electricity Department from Muzaffarabad to Mirpur.

AJK HC bench comprising Chief Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal, issued the stay order on a writ petition filed by Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, a former minister of AJK government, on behalf of the citizens of Muzaffarabad.

The learned court also summoned the respondent - the AJK government to formally respond by fixing March 13 as next date of hearing of the case.

The petitioner contended in the petition that shifting of the Store Division of the AJK Electricity Department from Muzaffarabad to Mirpur will affect to the power consumers besides low-paid employees of the department belonging to Muzaffarabad district.
