ATC records statements of prosecution witnesses

BB murder case

Rawalpindi - An Anti Terrorism Court on Friday recorded statements of two prosecution witnesses in PPP slain chairperson Benazir Bhutto (BB) assassination case during hearing held at the Adyala Jail. The court deferred the hearing in the case till January 19, 2015 summoning four more prosecution witnesses for recording the statements.
ATC Number 1 Special Judge Pervaiz Ismail Joya took up the BB murder case at Adyala Jail during which he recorded the statements of two prosecution witnesses the then National Disaster Management Cell Director Brig (Retd) Javed Iqbal Cheema and Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) Dr Habib, who cured the injured of December 27 Liaquat Bagh gun-and-bomb attack victims.
On the occasion, Defence Counsels Ilyas Siddique and Malik Muhammad Raffique cross examined the prosecution witnesses. The application of former SP Rawal Division Khurram Shehzad of giving him exemption was accepted by the court.
Former City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Saud Aziz, who is accused in BB murder case and is on bail and the five other accused Aitzaz Shah, Abdul Rashid, Sher Zaman, Rafaqat and Hassnain Gull appeared before the court during jail trial. Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Special Public Prosecutor Chaudhry Azhar was also present in the courtroom.
ATC No 1 postponed the hearing in BB assassination case till January 19, 2015 by ordering the prosecution to present four more witnesses before the court to get recorded their statements in BB murder case.
