NAB arrests 3 officials in corruption cases

PESHAWAR - NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has arrested three persons including Sub-Engineer Rahim Dad, Assistant Director Bannu Development Authority Shams-ur-Rehman and Assistant to Section Officer (Budget) Local Govt & Rural Development Deptt. Israr Khan for their alleged involvement in embezzlement of funds & misuse of authority in development works of BDA causing a loss of millions of rupees to the public exchequer.
During the course of investigation, it was revealed that the accused were responsible for sub-standard and poor quality of developmental works i.e. construction of roads, protection walls and installation of street lights in Bannu Township during 2011-12. Furthermore, they were instrumental in granting tenders to favourites and illegally extracting the allocated of funds.
The NAB has already arrested Mohibullah Khan, Project Director, Muhammad Tayyab, Divisional Accountant BDA, Taj Ali and Malik Zaman contractors in this case. Furthermore, two contractors have paid their part of embezzled money through voluntary return. The accused will be produced before the Accountability Court Peshawar for obtaining their physical remand.
