Tourists demand reducing tour buses fares
ISLAMABAD: The domestic tourists on Tuesday demanded reduction in the fares being charged commuters of the newly-inaugurated city tour buses.
The tour buses have been launched by Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation.
A group of domestic tourists said that the fares being charged for one ride in Islamabad city tour buses was Rs700 per person, which is out of the reach.
Rizwan Baig, a tourist, said that the fares should be within the reach of every person. Another tourist, Kanwal Shahid, said that the tour buses were expected to promote tourism in the twin cities.
However, he said, the fares must be reduced to facilitate the residents.
Manager City Tour Bus Service said that Rs 700 per person was introductory as it took the tourists to all sites in the capital including Lok Virsa, National Monument, Shakarparian and Faisal Mosque. An official of the PTDC said that consultation was in progress with schools, colleges and universities to convince them to hire the buses for Islamabad tour.–APP
Intelligentsia urged to save society from deterioration
RAWALPINDI: The gradual deterioration of all fields in our society makes it obligatory for the patriotic and moderate religious scholars, intellectuals, writers and educators to join hands to prevent the social fabric from further damage.
This was stated by Mian Siddique Akber, who was re-elected as the President of Anjuman Faizul Islam Rawalpindi, while addressing the newly elected Executive Committee of the Anjuman on Tuesday. The Anjuman, he added was established in 1943 at the behest of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and has since been playing a positive role in society by retrieving orphans and destitute children from all over Pakistan, providing them with shelter and necessities of life.
