LHC allows PAT-led parties to conduct protest till midnight

Lahore High Court (LHC) has allowed opposition parties led by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) to conduct protest at Mall Road, Lahore till midnight. 

The court ordered media to give coverage to the protest till midnight. 

The police and authorities were are ordered to give complete security to the parties, three member bench further remarked. 

Earlier, Lahore High Court reserved the verdict over petition against PAT-led protest to be held in Lahore today. 

The petition was filed by Lahore Mall Traders and advocate AK Dogar. 

As the hearing resumed today, the bench headed by Justice asked whether the protest is of one-day or a prolonged one. Dogar responded that Qadri's speeches gives hint that it will be a prolonged sit-in. 

Punjab Advocate General Shakeel-ur-Rehman and legal representatives of the petitioners were also present in the court. 

The AG also told the court that administration of protest has been informed about security threats and issues related to demonstration. 

The court rejected the petition seeking initial orders to stop protest. 

After completion of arguments, the court sought reply from PEMRA, Federal government and other involving parties.
