LAHORE   -  Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has laid the foundation stone of Sheikhupura to Gujranwala dual carriageway project at a ceremony at Chief Minister Office on Saturday. Senor Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, Minister for Industries Mian Aslam Iqbal and relevant officers were also present. 

Usman Buzdar said that 43-Kilometer long dual carriageway will cost Rs5.70 billion. 

He said that the project will be completed under the public-private partnership.  Thousands of vehicles will be benefited from better transportation facility with the completion of this project on daily basis. 

He said this project will make possible easy and speedy access to Motorway M-2 and Sheikhupura from Gujranwala. 

He said that private partners will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of the project for 25 years. 

The construction of road will interlink two industrial cities besides providing better transportation facilities to the citizens as well as saving time and fuel, he concluded.

DC urges parents, teachers to play role in eradication of polio

Deputy Commissioner Mudassar Riaz Malik on Saturday visited Nashtar Town, Katcha Jail Road, 

Chungi Amar Sandhu and different places of Gulberg Area to monitor the ongoing polio campaign which started on January 11, 2021.  Briefing on the occasion, the Health Department officials said that anti-polio teams were administering vaccine to 1.8 million children under five years of age door-to-door in the provincial capital. The DC urged the parents, teachers and representative of NGOs to come forward and play their  due role in the eradication of polio virus. He inspected the attendance of polio workers and monitored  the campaign. He also administered anti-polio drops along with Vitamin-A drops to children.  Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Shahid Abbas Kathia visited Union Council (UC)-52 Tulspura,  Wahga zone and monitor anti-polio campaign activities including finger marking, door marking and technical sheets.
