KARACHI - Four activists of the banned Sipah-e-Sahaba-Pakistan (SSP) were killed in the metropolis during the last 24 hours on Thursday. A security guard of SSP leader Maulana Ghafoor Nadeem was killed while the shot dead body of another activist was found from different parts of the City. Meanwhile, two workers of the defunct outfit sustained injuries in an exchange of fire during the funeral procession of Hafiz Ahmed Bux Advocate, who was killed along with his driver in Model Colony on Wednesday. Tension gripped Model Colony, Saudabad, Malir, Kala Board, Nagan Chowrangi and various other areas on Thursday after the assassinations of Hafiz Ahmed and three other SSP activists. Meanwhile, workers of a rival group resorted to indiscriminate firing when participants of Hafizs funeral procession tried to disrupt the commercial and routine life in the area. As a result, three SSP men sustained serious injuries while another party worker was kidnapped near Malir RCD Ground during crossfire with the activists of a rival group. The injured included Ghufran, son of Ghulam Sarwar and a resident of Future Colony Landhi; Saqib, son of Fayyaz and Arshad, son of Farooq. They were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where Ghufran succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was the brother of Hafiz Amanullah, who was killed in an incident of target killing some two months back in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town. In another incident, the dead body of Anwar Ali alias Murad TT, a resident of Orangi Town, was found from the Model Colony area. He was the bodyguard of SSP central leader Maulana Ghafoor Nadeem. Source said that Murad TT was recently released from jail. Police said that unidentified persons had kidnapped Murad and later threw his body the Model Colony area. Deceased was brutally torture before murder. Police have registered separate cases against unknown assailants. SSP leader Maulana Ilyas Zubair has strongly condemned the killings of his party activists.
