JI to protest against inflation, raise in POL prices

ISLAMABAD - Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) would hold protests from July 20 to 27 in Islamabad against price hike, raise in POL prices and load shedding. We will continue protests for a week from July 20 to 27 and raise the voice against the pro-US policy of the government in front of National Press Club. Children, women, youngsters of Shabab-e-Mili and common people would hold separate protests, JI Islamabad President Syed Bilal told a news conference here on Thursday. He claimed that the government was not taking interest in problems of the people. He said that the government had increased the price of petroleum while the price had been decreased at international market. The government set a side the Supreme Courts verdict about petroleum price by imposing a Presidential ordinance as the Petroleum Development Levy. Now, President Asif Ali Zardari has given signal of inflating the price of electricity from 17 to 21 percent, he said. He said that suicides, robberies and problems of law and order situation would increase due to price hike. We will demand of the government thorough these protests to take back the decision of raise in POL prices and electricity, he said.
