KARACHI - Judicial Magistrate (South) Abdul Qadir on Friday remanded Dr Jabbar Memon, medicolegal officer (MLO) of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), who was booked for rape bid and attempt to murder a nurse, to police custody till July 20. Investigation officer of the case appeared before the court seeking physical custody of the accused, who is under medical treatment at a hospital. The officer submitted a medical report of the accused that suggested that the accused needs at least two days bed rest. He requested the court to grant the custody of the accused for further inquiry of the case, the court granted his appeal. According to the prosecution, Dr Jabbar was booked by Saddar police in a rape bid and attempt to murder a nurse of the National Institute of Cardio Vascular Diseases. The police registered an FIR No 332/10 under Section 324 and 376 (attempt to murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code against the accused. The case was registered at the Saddar police station on behalf of the JPMC security in-charge Arshad Janjua. The police submitted that Dr Memon threw the 22-year-old Maxiline, who is also a student of second year in the NICVD, from his room in the first floor of the doctors hostel.
