At least 16 people were killed while several others sustained critical injuries when militants attacked a caravan of passenger vehicles in Kurram Agency on Saturday. According to sources, the caravan of vehicles was heading towards Peshawar from Parachinar, under surveillance of political administration, ambushed at the Chakarkhel, locality of Kurram Agency by militants with automatic weapons. Five people were killed on the spot while 11 succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. The victims are believed to be hailing from Parachinar, sources told media. The security officials after the incident cordoned off the area and started a search operation. MNA Sajid Hussain Toori has termed incident as an open terrorism and urged the government for stepping up security measures for public at roads and open markets.
