LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said the students obtaining top positions in examinations are the assets of the country and the nation. Talking on telephone to students sent on a study tour to leading European universities by the Punjab government, the CM said their achievement was matter of pride not only for their parents and families, but for the whole nation. The Chief Minister said he was happy that the students were not only benefiting from their study-tour abroad, but were showing a confident and responsible attitude during their visit. He said position-holder students had created good image of Pakistan by their performance. He said the foreign visit would provide an opportunity to Pakistani students to personally observe the modern world which will broaden their vision. A student, Ameer Haider of Multan Board, while talking to the CM, said there could not be a better gift for position-holder students than a visit to the premier universities of the world, and they were thankful to the CM for providing them this opportunity. A girl student said she wanted to personally inform the CM about her impressions on her return to Pakistan. She said the visit had not only created self-confidence in the students, but they had also promoted a spirit in them to strive collectively to bring Pakistan at par with the developed countries. Demo against Sunni Tehreek leaders arrest Sunni Tehreek on Friday held a demonstration outside Press Club to protest against arrest of Tehreek leader Mujahid Abdul Rasool Khan. Convener Sunni Tehreek Punjab Shadab Raza led the demonstration largely attended by party workers. The participants were carrying placards and banners inscribed with demand of early arrest of persons involved in attack on Data Darbar and immediate release of arrested Tehreek leaders. They also chanted slogans against the rulers in Punjab. Addressing the participants, Shadab Raza said that instead of arresting persons involved in Data Darbar attack, the Punjab govt has resorted to harass the Sunni Tehreek workers. He said that it was a pity that the rulers were using administration and Police for political motives. He vowed to launch protest movement if the arrested Tehreek leader was not released.
