ISLAMABAD Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Amir Hamza Gillani said that the second phase of the national training camps would commence from July 18 at Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi simultaneously. Talking to TheNation, he said that qualified Pakistani and foreign coaches would train the athletes during the camps for the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games which would be held at Delhi, India and Guangzhou, China respectively from October 3 to 14 and November 12 to 27 this year. Volleyball, wrestling, Wushu, weightlifting, baseball, squash and snooker camps will be organised here at the Pakistan Sports Complex while sailing and boxing camps will be staged in Karachi. Only kabaddi camp will be held at Lahore. However, the last phase for the preparation of international sports showpieces would be held in the second week of August, he said. He also said that the PSB had informed about the training camps. We held the meeting with the 10 national sports federation in which the representatives of the federation put their suggestions regarding the training camps. The training plan has been finalised with the consultation of national sports federations, he added. Responding to a question, Gillani said that the PSB would support the national federations in hiring the services of foreign coaches. The Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) has the overseas coach from Brazil for the national team. We will take part in the mega international sports event with full strength, he concluded.
