Three die in various incidents

LAHORE - At least three people including a 60-year-old woman died in various incidents in the City on Friday, police said. A 20-year-old youth swallowed poisonous pills over a family dispute in Harbanspura police precincts. Police investigators said the deceased Abdur Rauf, resident of Gujjarpura Town, was running a dispute with his elder brother and sister. The deceased tried to make reconciliation with them but failed, on which, he took the poisonous pills, police added. He was rushed to a local hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. Police later handed over the body to his heirs after necessary medico-legal formalities. Meanwhile, a woman, 60, succumbed to injuries at Mayo Hospital. Medico-legal officers said a man namely Rasheed, resident of Garhi Shahu, brought her to the hospital and maintained that she was his sister, Zareena, but he escaped after sometime. The police later shifted her body to the City morgue for autopsy. In another incident, a 50-year-old man died after some unidentified swindlers administered him lethal injection, which caused his sudden death in Lorri Adda police jurisdiction. Police investigators said an anonymous caller informed the police about a body lying near Yadgar Gate. It seemed someone administered him a legal injection or poisonous pills, an on duty police officer said. Police after recovering the body, however, made numerous announcements in nearby mosques but none of the citizens claimed to own the body. Later, police shifted the body to the morgue for autopsy.
