‘Big fishes still out of anti-profiteering net’

LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Wednesday sought the government mechanism to rein in profiteers and hoarders in Ramazan. The court Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan was hearing a petition challenging profiteering and hoarding in Ramazan.
The challenger told the court that the administration’s anti-profiteering squad had been raiding small shops instead of netting big fishes.
Lahore District Coordination Officer (DCO) Muhammad Usman submitted anti-profiteering steps to the court. Remarking that the benefits of Rs5m subsidy must be reached out to the people, Justice Khan directed the DCO to provide a mechanism to control high prices and hoarding on next date of hearing on July 21.
